Comparision Between Rambo 1, 2 and 3 Survival Knives

After the huge success of first blood, Stallone went on to produce two more sequels which were named First Blood II and III. In addition a fourth movie was also produced. Both the first blood 2 and 3 sequels featured a knife that had very similar features like the first blood one knife except for a few alternations in the knife size. But the final part of the movie which is in Rambo 4, the knife used was entirely different.

The story of Rambo 2 Knife and Other Sequels

The story of Rambo 2 knife was written by David Morrell. David then also wrote the story and screenplay for the third part. The screenplay for the fourth and final sequel to the hit Rambo series was written by Stallone himself.

Rambo 2 knife:

The first blood two knife had features that were very similar to the first blood one knife. This knife also featured a push tang construction. The handles were hollow and had an aluminum cord grip. The hollow handle had facility to keep survival kit like match sticks, fish linings etc. In addition the pommel featured mounted precision compass. The guards were made of stainless steel and had screwdriver points as part of the design. The sheath was made of genuine leather. The only difference the Rambo 2 knife had in comparison to the Rambo 1 knife was the in terms of the overall length of the blade and handle. The first blood part 2 knife had an fifteen inch overall size. The blade of the knife was ten inches in length.

Rambo 3 Knife:

The Rambo 3 knife was originally designed by Gil Hibben who is by the way a master knife maker. This is by far the longest and heaviest knife in the series. The Rambo 3 knife is around eighteen inch in length and sports a thirteen inch stainless steel blade. The handle of the knife is made from laminated hardwood. The pommel and guard are made from stainless steel. In addition the knife also has a leather belt sheath that has a leg tie.

Comparision Between the Knives

Picture A and B are the UC0000RB1 and UC0000RB2 where are the licensed original knives that were used in the Rambo movie 1 and 2. They both feature aluminimum cord gripped handles. The handles are hollow and contain an emergency survival kit. A precision compass is mounted in the pommel.

The first blood knife had an overall lenght of 14 inches and a blade length of 9 inches. The Rambo first blood two knife has a lenght of 15 inches in which the blade lengh is 10 inches.

The Rambo three knife on the other hand is a bowie knife with an overall lenght of 16 inches with 11 inches of blade. It features a rat tail tang and a laminated wood handle with stainless steel gaurd.

All three rambo survival knives are 1/4 inche thick and are made with 420 J2 stainless steel blades. The Rambo 4 knife is very different from these three knives and cannot actually be said to be a survival knife. The next section deals with features of the Rambo 4 knife.
